For those seeking low commitment fun:
It should be 70 degrees and sunny on Saturday, and if that's all the encouragement you need to pick up a canoe paddle, come to Sayles tomorrow night at 9pm. TRUE: there are many things going on this weekend. FALSE: you'll have another chance this term to spend a day on the St. Croix River. We'll leave Saturday morning and be back before dinner. What more could you possibly want? Bring your ID number and your enthusiasm.
For the more dedicated, sophomore Hannah Trees is seeking a hiking partner for this summer.
She writes:
"I am currently in the process of planning a summer hiking trip along England's south west coast path; it is 630 miles in all and takes about 7 weeks to finish. Unfortunately, my hiking partner just got offered a position as a summer research assistant and I have been left to do the walk alone. I was hoping that as CANOE's president, you could ask your fellow outdoor-enthusiasts if any of them would be interested in hiking with me this summer. I realize that this is somewhat of a long shot, as most people have already made summer plans and/or are not willing to fly to England, but any help that you can offer would greatly appreciated (I would ask around myself, but I am studying in Paris this term).
Thanks!
Hannah Trees
PS Just some general info in case anyone asks: I'd like to start the hike around mid-June, it would be anywhere from 9-16 miles per day, and while there are a lot of towns and B&B's along the trail, I'd like to camp as much as possible."
Faithfully (or unfaithfully) yours,
-Ryan
