The beginning of the Accidentals according to one of the founding members, Liz Keyes:
we gotstarted when there was a huge blizzard on HALLOWEEN in 1991. A little earlyfor a two-foot snowfall, but there you are, we all chose to live inMinnesota. Erika Leemann and I were walking back from a party at Dacie Moseshouse (I throw that in to dispel any rumors that we had no life at Carleton)and started slipping on the pavement between Musser and Davis. I startedsinging "Slip Sliding Away," Erika came in with some flawless harmony, andwe both thought, hey, let's start a group. Within ten minutes, we'd seenMissy and Katie in Severance Great Hall (back when it used to be open to thepublic), and Alicia in Sayles (common denominator: we were all Knightingalesrejects from callbacks a few weeks earlier) and voila, the group was born.To this day, Slip Sliding Away puts me right back on that treacherousOctober sidewalk...
It warms all of us to the cockles of our hearts, not that we know what thoseare, to see how the group has flourished. Congratulations to all of you!
