A bug marks a planting site for marigolds. Children from the Northfield area participating in the Prarie and Wood (PAW) program had an informative day in the garden including replacing all bugs with marigolds. This lesson emphasized how certain plants can be used to help deter unwanted insects instead of using pesticides.
Spritzen (the rat terrier to the left) was influencial in building the expanded garden space during the summer of 2003. She diligently assisted in digging holes for potato plants and took on many other tasks!
