The MAAC welcomes practitioners of any art, especially those who practice an art not represented by a major club at Carleton (like Tae Kwan Do, Aikido, Karate, Naginata-Do, Kendo, and Kyudo). One of the MAAC's stated goals is to provide a forum in which small martial arts can provide instruction and be given an opportunity to train. To that end, the MAAC is proud to host Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan and Sun Moo Do.
Carleton College has a well established Aikido Yoshokai club. Interested students are encouraged to join this club, as well as the MAAC if they are interested. Carleton College Aikido Club Official Website
There exists at Carleton a Kendo club. The MAAC is proud to have among its membership some kendo practitioners. Carleton College Kendo Club Official Website
Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan is a traditional Korean martial art founded in 1945 by Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee. This style is new to Carleton in the 2005 - 2006 academic year. Reid Gilman, 2009 will be offering lessons in this style - hopefully starting winter term, 2006. MAAC Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Website
Also a Korean style, Sun Moo Do joins Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan as a new style at Carleton this year.
Tae Kwan Do is also well established at Carleton as a club sport - like Aikido. Once again, interested students are encouraged to join the official Tae Kwan Do club at Carleton. Carleton College Tae Kwan Do Club Official Website
