Fall Intramural Tournament

Results of the Last IM Tournament

The Fall 2007 campus tournament took the form of a double-elimination event among 12 teams. It was played Sunday, Sept. 30, except for the finals, which were played Oct. 5 as part of an exhibition for Family Weekend. Tournament champions, undefeated all the way through, were the all-frosh team of Tom Sullivan, Austin Bell, Andreas Stoehr, and Michael Servis, with Larry Rolen subsituting for Andreas Stoehr in the final. Runners-up were the all-senior team of Richard Leavelle, Jeremy Sairsingh, Joe Gammello, and Jake Qian, whose only losses were to the champions, twice.

The top 10 individuals ranked by "adjusted average" (raw tossup points per game multiplied by the quotient of actual team points per game over tournament average team points per game) in games played prior to the final, were:

1. Richard Leavelle '08 (149.5; 5 games)
2. Tom Sullivan '11 (107.9; 3 games) Top scoring freshman
3. Ted Kuhn '09 (79.5; 3 games)
4. Austin Bell '11 (79.0; 2 games)
5. Andreas Stoehr '11 (68.4; 3 games)
6. Chris Burke '10 (65.1; 4 games)
7. Trevor Burnham '08 (62.3; 3 games)
8. Rebecca Palmer '10 (48.4; 5 games)
9. Justin LaMont '09 (47.1; 5 games)
10. Danny Wells '10 (40.7; 4 games)

Following the tournament final, a best two out of three game exhibition played between four student all-stars from the tournament (Richard, Tom, Ted, Austin) and a faculty/staff all-star team of Professors Jeff Ondich and Lauren Soth, reference librarian Iris Jastram, and Development officer Christian Hakala, who played on the Carleton quiz 'A' team from 1990-94. The students won this in back to back games, both of them close.
