The Next IM Tournament

Carleton's Fall 2009 Intramural Quiz Tournament will take place on Sunday, October 4.

The campus tournament is open to any and all interested students -- no prior experience is needed or expected! People wishing to play must sign up in advance. You may register either as a full team of four persons (plus subs if desired), as a partial team, or as an individual who will then be placed on a team by the tournament director.

The schedule for this double-elimination tournament will depend on the number of teams competing, but it is expected that most matches will be played during the day on Sunday, Oct. 4, in Language and Dining Center classrooms 330, 335, and 345. The finals, however, will be delayed until Oct. 16 and made part of a publicized campus event in connection with Family Weekend, together with a best-two-out-of-three game exhibition match between a student all-star team (selections based on performance in the Oct. 4 tournament) and a faculty/staff all-star team.

You may register for the tournament by email to ehillema@carleton.edu, or by otherwise informing Eric Hillemann, who is frequently to be found at his office in the College Archives, first floor of the Gould Library. Registration closes at noon on Thursday, Oct. 1. Those registering will receive (by Oct. 2) a tournament schedule and summary of the rules of play.
