The Carleton Rugcutters are Carleton's very own swing dance club. We welcome all styles of swing dancing, but primarily focus on teaching and practicing Lindy Hop. We seek to bring this fun and creative style of jazz partner dance to campus through weekly club practice, dances, lessons, and trips to dance in the Twin Cities.
Come dance with us every Tuesday night, 9:30 - 11:00 pm (lesson 9:00 - 9:30), in Cowling Dance Studio. (Please note the new time!) We also offer a swing dance PE class every term, PE 168 Social Dance: Swing. To stay in touch, join our mailing list and keep checking back here for updates!

3/08/06. It's official. Spring Swing will be held April 29, 2006 (that's Midterm Break weekend for all you Carleton folks). We have confirmed two great bands, Jerry O'Hagan and his Orchestra and the Twin Cities Hot Club, both back for the second year. Look forward to another excellent event!
10/2/05. Thanks everyone for making the first ever Minnesota Colleges Swing Festival such a success. Over 150 people attended, including dancers from Carleton, St. Olaf, and 15 other colleges and universities.
9/12/05. Welcome back! Come join us for our first club meeting on the term this Tuesday in Cowling! Lee and Alicia will be teaching a Beginner Lesson at 9 pm and then we will have open dancing from 9:30 - 11:00 pm. Also, check out our table at the Activities Fair this Friday!
8/27/05. Last week to register for a weekend pass to the Minnesota Colleges Swing Festival at the early bird rate! Carleton students, you don't have to pay, but it'd be great if you signed up for the classes early to help us ensure that CSA will cover the costs.
8/22/05. Let us know if you want to go to the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown! Rugcutters will work on organizing transportation and housing, whether you want to attend all or part of the weekend. Email us and let us know if you're interested.
7/24/05. Our website has been totally revamped! New design, new content. Some bugs are still being worked out, so be patient in the process and check out the changes. Hopefully this new interface will provide you with lots of easy to access information.
